Good morning and welcome to Neerja Modi Model United Nations 2025.
It is with immense pride and heartfelt gratitude that I stand before you today, to open a conference that I believe
is more than just a simulation \u2014 it is a step towards a better, more cooperative world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year, our theme \u2014 From Crisis to Consensus: Rebuilding Trust in International Cooperation \u2014 could not be
more timely. In an age where global trust has frayed, where conflict is often chosen over conversation, and where
the loudest voices are not always the wisest, we gather here as students, thinkers, and future leaders, to ask one
simple question: Can we do better?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At NMMUN, we believe the answer is yes.
Model UNs, like the one you are about to experience, are not mere academic exercises. They are living
laboratories of diplomacy, forums of empathy, and incubators of global citizenship. Here, we do not just talk
about the world \u2014 we learn to listen to it, to challenge it, and to shape it.
For over 5 years now, NMMUN has been a space where young minds explore some of the most pressing
challenges of our time \u2014 from climate change to armed conflict, from refugee crises to artificial intelligence
regulation. But more than that, it is a space where students learn that disagreement doesn\u2019t have to mean
division, and that dialogue can lead not just to debate, but to understanding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a world increasingly shaped by distrust \u2014 of institutions, of borders, and even of truth \u2014 the United Nations
still stands as a symbol of what is possible when nations choose collaboration over confrontation. And so too
does every Model UN conference \u2014 including ours.
Over the next few days, you will step into the shoes of ambassadors, negotiators, justices, and decision-makers.
But even more importantly, you will step into the shoes of those with different nationalities, histories, and lived
experiences. That is perhaps the greatest lesson of MUN \u2014 that behind every policy lies a person, and behind
every resolution lies a responsibility.
At Neerja Modi School, we take pride in nurturing not only academic excellence but global awareness \u2014 and
NMMUN is one of our most powerful tools to do so. We see this conference not as a competition, but as a
classroom \u2014 one where collaboration is more important than victory, and where the friendships you build may
last longer than any award you win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, as we declare NMMUN 2025 open, I ask you to debate fiercely, speak truthfully, and \u2014 above all \u2014 listen
deeply. Because when young people come together with open minds and principled hearts, crisis can turn into
consensus, and trust can be rebuilt \u2014 one committee session at a time.x<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Honourable Delegates, Esteemed Members of the Executive Board, and Respected Faculty,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What a powerful sight it is\u2014to stand before a gathering of such vibrant, thoughtful, and
courageous young minds. Minds that are not only ready to challenge convention, but to rewrite
the narratives of tomorrow. You are not just delegates today; you are change-makers, thought
leaders, and the future voices of diplomacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I, Aishi Gupta, have the immense privilege of serving as the Director General of the 17th edition
of the NMS Model United Nations. Our school has long been a pioneer in the MUN circuit,
achieving milestones in organisation, diplomacy, and serving as a platform for teaching students
about empathy, leadership, and intellectual rigor. This legacy is something we will continue to
shape and pass on. And this year, it is my absolute honor to be at the helm of that journey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The theme of NMMUN 2025, \u201cfrom crisis to consensus: rebuilding trust in international
cooperation,\u201d could not be more timely. The world in which we live right now is a place where
international cooperation is put to the test by division, misinformation, and lack of trust. From
conflicts to humanitarian disasters, to climate emergencies and geopolitical uncertainty, crises
are no longer a rare phenomenon; instead, they are a reality.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And yet, amidst such disruption, dialogue, for consensus, for trust, is imperative. This
conference urges each one of you not just to defend your assigned portfolios, but to reflect on
the deeper questions:
How do we move beyond blame and towards shared responsibility?
How can we transform crisis into opportunity, not just for a few, but for the many?
And above all, how do we restore faith in diplomacy when the world seems fractured beyond
repair?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As Director General, my expectation for all delegates is simple: give it your best. Approach each debate with confidence, but also with the humility to learn from others. MUN is more than a competition\u2014it\u2019s an opportunity to expand your perspective, challenge your assumptions, and become more As delegates, the answer resides in your hands. In your speeches, in your negotiations, in the
courage to listen, and the conviction to lead. Throughout three days, I hope that you all, not only
debate and find resolutions, but find your voice when you\u2019re nervous, stand your ground when
challenged, and learn from your allies and enemies. It’s about discovering new perspectives and
unveiling a side of you that you may not have seen before.
As this marks my final MUN in school, it holds a special place in my journey. I want this
experience to be transformative for every one of you. To our exceptional Executive Board\u2014your
tireless effort, sharp intellect, and steady leadership have shaped the very core of this
conference. From curating agendas to guiding delegates with integrity, your work has elevated
NMMUN 2025 to new heights. This conference would not be what it is without your dedication,
and I\u2019m deeply grateful to have worked alongside such a committed team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let’s make this a safe space, where debate is meaningful, diplomacy is dynamic, and
cooperation is not just an outcome, but a process we believe in. And perhaps, when this
weekend ends, you\u2019ll take away more than just a certificate. Perhaps you will take away a
moment that stays with you forever!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Good afternoon everyone,
Honourable EB members, respected teachers and our invaluable delegates\u2014<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As we gather here on the final day of NMMUN\u201925, I feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude
and pride. When we set out with this year\u2019s theme \u2014 \u201cFrom Crisis to Consensus: Rebuilding
Trust in International Cooperation\u201d \u2014 we knew it was ambitious. In a world that often feels
divided, we hoped this conference would serve as a reminder: that diplomacy matters,
dialogue is powerful, and the voices of young leaders like you can build bridges where
others see walls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the past three days, we have witnessed heated debates, compelling speeches,
unexpected crises, and \u2014 above all \u2014 moments where delegates chose consensus over
conflict. In all the committees you were a part of, you brought the chambers alive with
passion, intellect, and an unwavering commitment to solutions.
To our Executive Board: thank you for guiding, mentoring, and inspiring our delegates to rise
above the ordinary. Your feedback, your patience, and your high standards have helped
every participant grow as a leader and as a global citizen. This conference is a testament to
your dedication and teamwork.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To our teachers: thank you for believing in the power of MUN to shape young minds and for
giving us this platform to learn beyond our textbooks.
And to our delegates \u2014 you are the heartbeat of NMMUN. Thank you for showing up
prepared, for arguing fearlessly, for listening when it was hard, and for reminding us that the
future is in good hands. If there is one thing you take away from these three days, let it be
this: that trust is not built overnight \u2014 but through dialogue, empathy, and collaboration, we
can rebuild it, piece by piece.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As we draw the curtains on NMMUN\u201925, I hope you carry this spirit with you \u2014 into your
classrooms, your conversations, and your futures. This conference may be ending, but its
lessons and friendships will continue far beyond these walls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Though we may not meet again here next year, let us keep alive the values that brought us
together \u2014 because the world needs thoughtful voices, brave ideas, and leaders who
believe in dialogue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
